4-1 is the biggest score indeed, it's also the most goals scored in a single game (Sunderland and Liverpool drew 2-2 the other day).

That was a very good match indeed, you quite possibly have the best midfield in the game with both Torres and Mendes scoring ridiculously good goals today.

There is luck involved, but that's to make sure the teams who don't have several world-class players have a decent chance of getting something out a game. Winners aren't decided by complete luck though, if you play a poor defensive and a below average goalkeeper you're going to get killed, plus tactics play a part in the result as you'll see if you read the Sunderland vs United match.
