We're not soccer fanatics, we're football fanatics.
And it'll take a while for Robinho to settle in to english football, just like he would've had to at Chelsea.

Nah i think he played great in that match but his support from his team was not up to the level he might have expected. Whereas in Chelsea i think our supporting is very good and he would have fitted in well here. You lose some you win some eh? In his case he loses the wins but wins the cash i guess.

I don't think this match "showed Robinho where he should have gone" at all. He wanted to play in the Premiership, and Man City came up with a huge offer that Real took straight away rather than having all summer long pining for Chelsea, who took their time too much. That's the way I see it anyway.
Also, I doubt Chelsea fans will be bitter about losing Robinho anyway - they can evidently still totally outplay their opponents without him, and just because Chelsea beat City? That's like saying Jonathan Greening should have stayed at York rather than moving to Man United, because York beat United at Old Trafford.
I know Chelsea are the bigger team so that example isn't perfect, but its a similar principle.
I think Man City will be a threat this season, though I must admit I was disappointed in them from what I saw yesterday - they had some awesome football going but just couldn't seem to grasp control of the game, and Chelsea far outclassed them.
That said though I think this was quite possibly one of the best matches I have seen in a long time - albeit on Match of the Day - and I wouldn't write City off just yet.

I think once come January when Man City can get spending we're in for an intresting season I couldn't agree more. I think City could, given 3 or 4 years, make it the "big 5", and without a doubt if they can snag the likes of Robinho from right under Chelsea's nose then in theory they should be able to get almost anyone they want (apart from Cristiano Ronaldo, from what has been said today). I think the likes of Messi and Kaka will be chased by both City and Chelsea, and whoever gets them will, I think, boil down to who can offer more money. But this new guy thats buying City makes Roman look like a jobless hobo - so there's a good chance City will get just about anyone they want, and that will instill some worry in the current big 4.

Dont get to hasty, one thing I would say is Roman Abromavich is not in danger of going bust, all 14 billion if his weath is his money. This arab guy whatever he is worth its not his money, just what they company is worth, if the company goes downhill... We will see another Leeds. So if City want to try and take the Chelsea root then they better get in the champions league this season which I highly doubt, no one is going to get near the big four seeing Liverpool have much imporved this season and Arsenal still look dangerous and there is no danger of Man Utd or Chelsea dropping out for sure.

Yeah - great points there.
I didn't mean to make it sound as though Roman was going bust lol, I just figured for comparison purposes.
I seriously don't think City will break into the top 4 this season, but I do think they will worry the top 4 somewhat. I still think Chelsea are by far the best team in the Prem at the moment - Man United may be the champions, but Chelsea's football is so smooth and exciting.
